Introvert

“You always see in movies and in books that an introverted character eventually breaks out of their shell because one person changes them and if I’m being honest, I hate that. I hate the idea that something is wrong with introversion. Yes, socializing is good, but not a lot of people understand how physically and emotionally draining it is to be in crowds of people or to be told to “let loose” and “have fun.” As an introvert, my idea of fun is sitting on my couch reading a book, and listening to the rain as it hits the roof. If that’s boring to other people, then that’s fine, but I shouldn’t have to feel bad just because I have a different way of having fun. No one should.

Introversion shouldn’t be scolded, it should be embraced and celebrated and people who are introverts shouldn’t have to feel bad about it. There is no need to try and change something about us we can’t help.” – yatoofthedawn on tumblr

A little something I read a while back on Tumblr and decided to share it because I wish everyone I know would understand this.

Some book moments that made me go “nope”

Hey people, how’s it going? I hope you’re all well and healthy. Today I bring you another list of things about me and this time is about books. The moments in books I read that made me want to close the book and throw it through the window like Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook.

wtf

Admit it, if you’re a current reader, you felt identified with this scene. I know I did. This is not a post about moments that I didn’t like but more like moments that were too much to handle. let’s get into it.

WARNING: beware of the spoilers!

  • Jay Gatsby’s death/ The Great Gatsby

When I look back at this book I don’t feel sorry about his death, it’s not a book I became emotionally attached to but I will admit that when I first read it I was really frustrated for the reasons he died. I hate when bad things happen for stupid misunderstandings. To me, at 15/16 years old it was really unexpected, I think it was about the realism that this death provided. I was so used to happy endings and flowers and rainbows or idealistic futures like the one Gatsby had that his death was like if someone had thrown a glass of cold water at me.

  • Augustus Waters’ cancer / The Fault in Our Stars

That moment when everything is perfect and suddenly Augustus tells Hazel that his cancer was back and I wanted to literally throw the book through the window. I read this book pretty early so I had the good luck of not spoiling myself. Around when the movie was coming out it was impossible to enter to a social network without spoiling yourself that he was going to die, I mean, even the movie trailer made it really obvious. This is why Augustus death was a surprise to me. I mean, I knew someone was going to die I just expected it to be Hazel and not him.

  • Peeta’s hate towards Katniss / Mockingjay (The Hunger Games trilogy)

Peeta Mellark is one of my favorite characters from The Hunger Games so of course I suffered a lot when he was kidnapped and tortured. And just when he was back, relatively safe with Katniss who was coming around with her feelings, he went psycho and tried to kill her with his bare hands.

  • Finnick’s death / Mockingjay (The Hunger Games trilogy)

Finnick my ultimate hunger games favorite character had me so emotional, he got married with the woman he loved, Annie was pregnant and then boom, Finnick dead. His death was so fast and sudden that I had to go back and read it again because I was not sure those creatures actually killed him. Not to mention I didn’t even understand his death until I saw it on the movie, all I know is that with some few describing words this character was gone. I literally stopped reading the book for like 4 days in protest of what happened.

  • Snape killing Dumbledore / Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

Even if it was part of a secret Dumbledore and Snape had and that Dumbledore was going to die anyways I suffered a lot when he killed the guy. First of all because I was trying to like Snape and second of all because WHO KILLS DUMBLEDORE?!? HE IS SO MAJESTIC. YOU JUST DON’T KILL HIM. Besides, Dumbledore’s death was one of the few Harry Potter’s death I didn’t know it was going to happen when I started reading the books.

  • Cinder is actually the lost princess Selene / Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles)

Yeah this made me go all “Nope” but not for the reason you might be thinking. It’s because it was so obvious!!! From the moment a baby supposedly dead was mentioned I had the feeling we were talking about Cinder whose past was all blurry and mysterious. She was a cyborg girl and the baby was supposedly killed in a fire, coincidence? I think not. Then when Kay says he was looking for her I instantly knew it was Cinder. I mean who else could be the lost princess of the exact same age Cinder is?

10 Harry Potter Books/Movies differences that make you roll your eyes in frustration.

Hey! Since we’re entering september and that means Hogwarts is starting and letters are being delivered I figured out, why not go with the flow and write a post about Harry Potter? After all, I love talking about Harry Potter and I found some cool illustrations to go with so I decided to do Harry Potter differences that make you want to say “the books were better.”

  1. “Your mother’s eyes”

hp1 I totally get why this would be different though. Daniel Radcliffe was kind of allergic to the contact lenses. So I really don’t have any issue with this, I just wanted to show you guys the cool drawing.

2. Neville in general.  hp2

Neville is my favorite Harry Potter character (Well, I’m always between him and Lupin but I always say it’s him) His characterisation in the movies weren’t that bad. I mean, put him next to Ginny, he got it pretty good. Of course there were some things that I wish we could have seen but I’ll talk about it below.

3. Ginny Weasley. hp3

Oh man, Ginny’s characterisation was so bad! I always feel bad because people hate on movie Ginny and on Bonnie Wright saying that she didn’t do it right. In my opinion the ones to blame here are the director and scriptwriter. Either they didn’t read the books or they just forgot all about her and decided to create their own version of the character.

In the books she’s so funny, sassy, brilliant and brave while in the movies I always picture her as shy, silent and quiet. Where’s the Ginny that dated boys? The one who was fierce in quidditch and fun to be around?

3. Neville who?

hp4

So because Neville is my favorite character this kinda bothered me, it was like completely erasing one of the things that made Neville important to the story. I don’t remember very much but I think they mentioned it once? Or not? I don’t know.

4. More erasing for Neville

hp5

This one, in my opinion, is one of the worst. It was one of the reasons that made me love Neville and they completely ignore it?!

5. More of Dobby

hp6

Dobby being employed at Hogwarts by Dumbledore was not a thing in the movies apparently. I think in the books his death has more meaning that in the movie were he just appears to die on the next minute, literally. If I hadn’t read the books I think I wouldn’t have cried. (I didn’t cry really but a lot of people did)

6. Hermione’s characterisation.

hp7

The whole S.P.E.W thing gave a lot of characterisation to Hermione. I think I got to know her more and the kind of person she was for this. While in the books things like S.P.E.W or constantly doing homework and studying (or maybe being a little judgy) made Harry and Ron roll their eyes at her I think that in the movies she was shown as some kind of perfect Mary Sue.

7. Harry and the Half-Blood Prince mystery.

hp8

I was never really that interested in this mystery because from the moment I grabbed this book I was 99% sure the Half-Blood Prince was Snape. In the movies they didn’t pay that much attention to it either.

8. THIS

hp9

Everyone hates this, I hate this, my dog who can’t even read hates this probably. Dumbledore asked him CALMLY!!! I bet Richard Harris would have done it right.

9. Silver hand

hp10

I don’t really have a comment for this, he.

10. Peeves

hp11

Peeves was the type of character I would have love to see in the movies but wouldn’t complain if it wasn’t. What I mean is that he should have been but I understand why they didn’t put him. Ghosts in general were kind of forgotten in the movies. What about Nearly Headless Nick’s party the kids attended? It was really creepy and interesting to read about it and I think a scene would have been really cool.

So I think they’re a lot more. One can’t always expect a perfect adaptation and in general I think the Harry Potter one’s were pretty good (except the last one, not that one) Think about it, we could have had some distorted adaptation like The Scorch Trials, I would have cried. So I’m thankful.

Hope you enjoyed as much as I did writing it, see ya!

What I’m into at the moment

Hello! I thought a lot about what to talk in my next post. I was going to talk about Disney and Universal but then I decided not to because it would be kind of boring just mentioning what rides I went to. The reason I wanted to talk about it really was because of some issues we had with my family in Universal Studios which was going to bring the whole subject of discrimination and all.

Instead I’m going to talk about what things have I been into in my winter holidays. So here it goes…

Tv Shows

In last “What I’m into at them moment” post I was into Grey’s Anatomy and about to start Elementary. I stopped watching Grey’s… not forever just momentarily because it was the only thing I could watch at the moment and I got a bit bored. I started Elementary and I think it’s great but I didn’t continue with it either. Instead what I’m obsessing at the moment is Bones.

Season_7_cast

Bones is one of those shows that never caught my attention, I was honestly not interested in watching it at all but because I was missing that Mulder and Scully vibe (I actually miss watching The X-Files) I thought maybe it was going to be something like that. I don’t know, I seem to have a thing for those kind of relationships between characters. I wasn’t disappointed, it’s pretty good. I lost my temper with Brennan and Booth’s relationship I was like “get the hell together already!!!”Some of the cases are a bit boring but the characters are great and I’m all about characters and relationships… and dead people.

Another  show I’m into at the moment and constantly thinking about re watching it is Stranger Things, yeah I know, pretty obvious since everyone loved it.

netflix-stranger-things-poster

I feel this show is like Twin Peaks meets The X-Files (I really miss watching this show) plus something new. When I started watching it I was not sure I was going to like it. Well obviously I was wrong. I loved the show, the theme, the plot though I was constantly putting my “wtf” expression, and the characters. All in all I think it deserves all the hype it’s getting because it’s pretty amazing.

Music

I have not been listening  to anything but Hamilton, it’s like a really bad obsession I’m having at the moment. At first when I heard about the musical a while ago I had three songs but then I started downloading more and more. Every time I listen to music I listen to the album and when I put shuffle on my music I pass all the songs until a Hamilton one is on. How awkward would it be for someone to ask me what I’m into the moment, I gained all this knowledge while listening and reading the songs in Genius.com, It’s not even the story of my country! I mean, what do I do with all this information about the US now? I started talking to my grandparents about Hamilton telling them about everything I learned about the dude in the 10 dollar bill… and that’s not even my country’s currency…

Books

The Diviners by Libba Bray, I have been waiting for this book for a while now. I spent an entire hour trying to find it in a book shop in Miami and when I finally got it I almost started crying of happiness. It’s just that every time I wanted to buy it in my own country they only had it in one book store and they were always out of stock so I gave up trying to get it and decided to wait for a trip to see if I could see

I’ll leave the goodreads summary

Evie O’Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City—and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It’s 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.

Evie worries he’ll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.

As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds. A chorus girl named Theta is running from her past. A student named Jericho hides a shocking secret. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened.

Movie

I was really excited to watch Suicide Squad but the reviews took a bit of excitement. I know better that to read the reviews of the movies because they said that Batman v Superman was not good and I personally thought it was a piece of art.

On the other hand I saw Ghostbusters and loved it, I really want to watch it again.

Ghostbusters-2016

Clothes & accessories

I never was into Disney pins because I know that if I started collecting them I would end up broke, I always wanted though. On my last visit to Disney however I took these three and I love them.

And then I finally  bought a Hufflepuff scarf at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal. I use it all the time since it’s cold here.

I also bought a lot of clothes but I’ll show you that another time.

Hope I entertained you, see ya!

What I’m into at the moment

Hey lovely people! This was supposed to be an update post about what’s going on with me but I then thought it was going to bore you to death so I decided to do a “What I’m into at the moment” post, it’s kind of like a favorites of [insert month] but because I can’t wait til the end of the month and I never do those kind of post I’m going to do this, why am I explaining this to you? No idea just go with it.

So because of exams and university I haven’t been able to do many things, however I’m going to try to list my favorite things at the moment for you.

  • TV Shows

I don’t know why but these past months I haven’t been able to update myself with any tv show I watch, not even daredevil, my favorite ever. However the only thing I can watch at the moment is Grey’s Anatomy, I’m currently on season 5.

greys 5

It’s really weird because at first I was really against watching it. My sister came to ask me if she should watch it and I told her not to because everybody died. Two weeks later she started Grey’s and a month later I gave up and started it too. It’s so good but so sad, but soooo good.

Another TV show I’m about to start is Elementary. I tried watching Sherlock from BBC but I honestly couldn’t, and the cast from this show is freaking amazing. I haven’t started yet because of exams but now that I finished those I’ll be getting into it.

elementary.jpeg

  • Music

Since I changed to apple music I stopped having playlists to hear while I walk on the street but seeing as lately I have only been hearing specific songs and passing all the others I made one

Photo Jun 11, 6 29 05 PM.png

Those are it. Come Alive by Foo Fighters and Black Sheep by Metric have been an obsession of mine these past days.

  • Books

I only read the prologue of this book because, you know, exams but I’m really excited to read it.

the secret history

I’ll leave you the goodreads description if you haven’t heard of it.

Under the influence of their charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is a world away from the humdrum existence of their contemporaries. But when they go beyond the boundaries of normal morality they slip gradually from obsession to corruption and betrayal, and at last – inexorably – into evil.

  • Movie

So I’m not into any movie at the moment since I watched Captain America Civil War and X-Men Apocalypse but I could tell you the movies I’m really excited about this and next month

finding dory

I’m so happy the wait is over with Finding Dory, luckily, I get to see it next week!

Ghostbusters-2016

Unlike others I’m really excited for this Ghostbusters movie, all female and Kate McKinnon on it, I love her!

  • Make up

I’m not sure this is make up (because I know nothing about make up) but due to the cold winter upon my country my lips are really dry and they hurt sometimes so my forever companion from Nivea helps me a lot.

  • Clothes

This Levi’s scarf I love so much.

So this are the things I’m into the moment, hope you liked it, if you feel familiar with one of this things comment what you think, or not, you’re free to do whatever you want 🙂

see ya!

Liebster Award

Photo Jun 07, 9 20 59 PM

I’m back with a Liebster Award! I have been trying to post as much as before but just when I decided I was going to try to post every day I got into exams week, yeah talk about timing.

Thank you so much flickbox for nominating me! If you got time go check this blog, it’s pretty awesome.

Photo Jun 07, 9 16 22 PM.png

Let’s see the rules:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions that the blogger gives you
  • Nominate 11 bloggers of your own choosing
  • Give them 11 questions
  • Let the bloggers know you nominated them

Perfect! The questions are…

1. What is your favourite horror movie ?

I usually  hate horror movies but if I had to pick one I actually liked it would be Psycho

2. If you could be a movie bad guy, which one would you be ?

Wow this one is good, hmm I think I would be Loki from Thor and The Avengers. I’m actually saying Loki because I cannot think of other bad guy at the moment.

3. Would you let a movie crew film in your house ?

yeah! This actually happened to a friend once but it wasn’t a movie it was for a tv show from here.

4. What kind of movie would you like to star in ? Why ?

I’m between action, sci-fi, fantasy and adventure because usually those are the movies I obsess more about.

5. Which movie star should live forever ?

I think Leo DiCaprio is on top of my list here.

6. Would you like to be an actor/actress ? Why or why not ?

If I had talent, wasn’t so shy and had the appearance to attract audience in today’s society (unfortunately this is “important” nowadays) I would totally be an actress. I love movies, entertainment, theatre and all things related to acting, I grew up in it because my mom took a lot of acting classes and I used to go and see her plays.

7. Do you think movies have been developing technology or technology has been developing movies ?

I think is a mix of both. Thanks to technology more movies have been developed and at the same time these movies make us work more on the technology being used to make them so we can improve them.

8. If you were to be an actor / actress, which director would you like to work with ? And actor ?

Humm directors I think it would be Kenneth Branagh, Zack Snyder or Baz Luhrmann and actors… that is really hard because I love a lot of actors but I would choose Robert De Niro or Rachel McAdams

9. Would you rather be in a movie, or be given $500.000 ?

Be in a movie.

10. Think of a boring movie you’ve seen. Is there a way to make it better ?

I can’t think of any boring movie I watched… Most of the times even if it was boring at some point I end up liking them anyways. Recently I watched Now is Good with Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irons but I couldn’t finish it because I got bored. I can’t say I blame the movie here though because I think I was just a bit tired of the same theme. Maybe in another time I would have loved it.

11. Which movie has the best story ? Tell me about it.

Oh this is so difficult, a lot movies have incredible stories. For now I’m going to say Stardust because it’s one of my favorite fantasy movies. Although for being based in a park attraction I would say the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have a great story.

Hey! this was fun, loved this movie related questions 🙂

Now my questions are:

  1. Favorite movie based on a book?
  2. Favorite snack for a movie?
  3. Book you wish there was a movie adaptation? or book you wish there wasn’t a movie adaptation?
  4. What is going to be your costume for this Halloween? or if you don’t have plans because it’s kinda early who/what would you want to dress as?
  5. Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean or Marvel movies?
  6. If you were in a movie/book what character would you be? (protagonist, best friend, love interest, etc…)
  7. When a movie based on a book comes out you are usually the person who already read the book or the person who is going to read the book after seeing the movie?
  8. A TV movie you liked?
  9. Think of your favorite character from a book, which actor/actress would you choose to portray them?
  10. Would you rather be the director of the movie the book is being adapted to or the writer of the book the movie is being adapted to?
  11. Pick a favorite character from a book, which movie character do you think they would have a great chemistry with?

I like this questions a lot!

I’m actually going follow the rules and nominate 11 blogs for once:

Let me know when you do this or if you do this, you don’t have to if you don’t want to of course, but if you do I would love to read the answers.

The Character Book Tag

Photo May 27, 4 57 38 PM.png

Chloe from (Over) Analysing Literature left this tag open and I thought it looked like fun so I’m gonna do it and hope I don’t end up rambling about the characters because I feel like a proud mom when I talk about them. Alright let’s do it!

In fair warning I haven’t been reading lately so my answers might have no sense or talk about old books I read.

1. Who is the most tough and awesome character?

Hmm… this is hard. I’m between Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen. Funny thing is these two protagonist are the ones which I had most trouble liking at first place but have to admit they’re awesome and tough.

Harry lost his family when he was a baby and had to go through all those years of abuse by the Dursleys. Then he got to hear how great his parents were and how they had been murdered by a dark wizard who seemed to be after him. When he founds Sirius, his godfather, he feels like he might have a  chance of having a family and then Sirius dies.

Harry went through a lot, I mean, he came back from the dead! And he did all this being just a kid. He’s pretty much awesome because he’s a great wizard even though he seemed to have no idea what he’s doing most of the time, he goes with whatever idea comes first and it always works. I don’t think I need more excuse,  he defeated Lord Voldemort when he was just a baby!

Katniss was used as a political symbol being just 17 years old, she started a revolution that change millions of lives… AND SHE WAS JUST 17! At 17 I was failing almost every subject of high school. Plus she did all that for her sister and in the end her sister dies…

2. Which character do you most dislike?

This is also hard… I have a feeling every question is going to be hard for me. I didn’t finish this series but Sebastian from The Mortal Instruments was a piece of sh*t.

3. If you could date a fictional character, whom would it be?

RICHARD GANSEY III… he, he. Or Blue Sargent, she’s the best. When I was young I had a major crush on Ponyboy from The Outsiders… or Mr. Knightley from Emma… I could go on.

4. If you could change a character in any way what would it be?

I don’t know, I guess that while reading I have a lot of comments towards the characters and their personalities but after I finished the books I just see the bigger picture rather than that aspect of their personality.

5.What character made all the wrong choices which didn’t add anything to the story?

Noah from I’ll Give You the Sun… I do get he was really young and had a lot on his shoulder so I don’t really blame him but he did make some bad decisions that could have been avoided.

I could also mention Macbeth here but his wrong choices added a lot to the story.

6. Which Character do you love to hate?

I guess I could go with Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Honorable mentions: Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter, Joseph Kavinsky from The Dream Thieves, Don John from Much Ado About Nothing, Nick Bottom from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (I don’t know I just can’t get to like that character)…

7. Favorite sidekick character with the most heart.

Noah from The Raven Boys 🙂

I want to stop mentioning Harry Potter and that’s why I’m not saying Ron or Hermione.

8. What is your favorite fictional romantic relationship?

*Sweats because she wants to keep mentioning HP characters* Gansey and Blue from The Raven Boys, they’re so different yet you get the feeling they go well together. They know they’re not going to find what they’re looking for in each other but it doesn’t mean they can’t find it hand in hand.

Also: Scarlet and Wolf from The Lunar Chronicles, they’re so cute!!! Ronan and Adam from The Raven Cycle too.Chloe mentioned Gilbert and Anne from Anne of Green Gables and I absolutely agree. Beatrice and Benedick and yeah alright I’m sorry I have to… I love Ron and Hermione and Ginny and Harry.

9. Who do you think is the strongest character?

They’re a lot of characters that would enter in this area. I mean all the protagonists are usually really strong characters. I could mention Oliver Twist because he was just a kid and he went trough a lot but I read the book a long time ago (like 8 years ago) and I don’t remember that much of it.

10. Best protagonist?

I feel like Blue Sargent is the proper answer here. Usually it takes me a while to like the protagonist but I loved her from the first chapter (My precious feminist baby!). Also Lou Clark from Me Before You was a character I undoubtedly liked. Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower… It’s really difficult choosing one.

11. Whom do you tag?

Everyone! If you want to do it, do it. If you don’t, don’t. Your choice!
