Los Angeles feelings

I’m back. Back here and back from vacations. This time, back from California.

Let me tell you a little something, I don’t really remember when was the first time I thought about moving to a specific place but I can clearly remember that moving to United Stated was always a fixated point since I was 17 years old.

I think I had this idealized idea of moving to Los Angeles because I’m a huge Hollywood fan. I love movies, they’re great when you want to get away from the reality of your life. And so I fell in love with the idea of moving to a place where things were different. Now I’m not stupid, I know that it’s not like in the movies, it never is. But after having the chance of going to check it for myself, I can definitely say that my wish of moving there is definitely still there. The fact that Disneyland is close from there increase my interest a lot as well.

So my trip started in Anaheim. If you have been reading this blog you will know that I’m a big Disney fan, like big, big Disney fan. So it was a must for me to go to Disneyland, the original park.

My experience was really different from what I was expecting but I wouldn’t say it was bad. If there’s something I learned is that if my dreams come true and I get to go a second time, I am definitely not going on a sunday. It was our last day and our second time in the park, me and my sister could only do one game because of how long the lines were. It also didn’t help the fact that by the time I was there a major storm had step upon us. I heard people saying it was one of the biggest California had… my luck.

Despite that I do believe it was a magic experience. Back in Orlando (where I have been going to Disney once a year since like 2012) I never met any character, finding them was impossible but in Disneyland characters seem to appear all the time. I got a lot of pictures with a bunch of them, Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty, Nick and Judy from Zootopia (I was fangirling hard) and more… some of them are in my instagram if you want to check it out.

Now though I loved Disney in California I have to say you get a better experience when you go to Orlando. To start with you have a lot of choices regarding hotels. I was used to staying in hotels inside the Disney resort, you get more full of the magic spirit Disney gives you but they were so expensive in Anaheim that we had to stay somewhere else. I don’t complain thought, It was a really nice hotel.

After Anaheim we drove all the way to Las Vegas [Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas” sounds in the background] If I’m being honest, it was never my kind of scenario but I loved it. Of course I did more of the tourist part of it, I was with my grandparents after all (which sounds like i had to behave properly but it was more like me and my sister asking them to behave) The only reason I played once was because I’m 21 and I don’t look like it I wanted to sit and play so someone could ask me for my ID. I don’t know, haha, I just wanted to show someone I was 21. It didn’t work, nobody asked me nothing and I lost 20 dollars.

And after Las Vegas we finally stayed 10 days in Los Angeles. You have no idea how in love I am with that city. Maybe I still have that La La Land kind of feeling around me, I was so dazzled. Generally when I go on vacations I get to a point where when I’m on my last days there I am ready to leave, like I’m fulfilled or something but here I didn’t want to leave at all. I wanted to stay and do all the things we did all over again.

And it wasn’t as if everything that happened in our trip was beautiful. We did get the chance to go to a lot of places but we have a lot of family arguments not only between each other but with my mother who was back home. But that’s for another post/story. What I’m trying to say here is I loved my trip to Los Angeles.

I have a lot of pictures but I don’t really want to bore you. Instead if you’re a Harry Potter fan then that’s good because I’m going to end this post with some pictures I took of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour.

(Starting with the La La Land café where Mia worked and Warner recreated)

My sister had to refresh my memory cause I honestly didn’t remember seeing this in La La Land. Also, now that I’m talking about the movie how do you feel about the whole Oscar’s mistake. Iconic. I’m so happy for Moonlight but at the same time I would have love for them to receive a proper recognition. (My sister thinks it was rigged and honestly it’s kind of suspicious)

Also this!

I loooooooved Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them but you know what I loved even more? The aesthetic. A very much deserved oscar for best achievement in production design.

Hope we read each other soon!

remember when?

Remember that post where I told you guys about me being gone because of my finals, yeah well my finals ended like a month ago. Not really but sort of.

I’m starting to think I’m not that good at keeping up a blog, haha. The truth is I don’t know what to tell you about. I feel a million things I want to share, I see and read and experience things that I want to post for you and me yet somehow I can’t get myself to write them down…

I don’t want to exaggerate, my life is still pretty basic and normal. The only thing that changes are the new lives I live in books and the music I listen (I still listen to mostly hamilton) and the movies I enjoy. I do have different feelings that I feel like sharing but at the same time it confuses me because I feel like I’m mixing everything into this blog and at the end of the day no one knows what this is about, not even me.

I’m still going to write though, I just need more time to put my feelings together and analyse what’s going on in my life before pour it all down. And most important I need to remember that though readers are more than welcome I’m doing this for me.

hope we read each other soon.

What I’m into at the moment

Everytime I want to do a “What I’m into at the moment” post all I can think of is about the shows I’m watching at the moment and the fact that I want to talk about them. But honestly the only thing I can recall of this month was me watching tv shows, that’s it so let’s get into it.

  • Tv Shows

Last month I was totally attached to Bones. This month however I did a major throwback and decided to rewatch some old shows I watched. Not really watched completely though more like stopped watching but watched more than the half. In this case: Dawson’s Creek and The Office.

I decided to rewatch the season before of where I stopped watching that’s why I say I’m rewatching (I’m really not doing that though)

I don’t think I ever mentioned it but I’m a sucker for teenage drama. I watched Gossip Girl and The O.C and I remember saying those were my favorite shows (They’re not… well I still love The O.C) When I was around 16 MTV was passing the episodes of Dawson’s Creek in Argentina and I decided to give it a try. I was so in love with it. I loved the characters and the fact that everything about this show was so unrealistic. From the way they talked to the way they looked (They were supposed to be 16 but they looked like 25) I didn’t care, I just loved it. Specially when Joey and Pacey got together, I started loving it even more because, let me tell you something, Pacey is by far one of my favorite characters in television ever. I stopped watching the show in season 4 though because I kinda knew that Joey and Pacey weren’t going to last and I didn’t want it to end so I stopped watching. Silly, I know.

However, a few weeks ago, after almost 5 years and knowing how the show was going to end (Yeah I had to make sure who was Pacey going to end with to continue watching) I decided to keep watching it. The thing is, now I’m about to end season six and I. Don’t. Want. To. I got so attached to the characters and their stories. I love Jen and Joey and I love Jack and I loooove Pacey.and I recently started liking Dawson for the first time after five seasons. Anyway yeah I’m all into this show at the moment. Worst thing is I can’t talk about it with anyone because it’s old and nobody I know watched it.

I have so much love for The Office. It reminded me of when I watched Parks and Recreation and that show is one of my favorite evers. I have laughed so much with this one though. I started watching a long time ago, I don’t even remember when but I stopped around season 4. I don’t know why I always stop watching series at season 4. And this is not just because I also stopped watching Dawson’s Creek at season 4 but I also stopped watching a lot of shows on S4. Anyways, now suddenly decided that I needed a more laughter in my life so yeah, naturally, I turned to a tv show looking for it.

I’m currently on season 6 now and I watched it every night unlike Dawson’s Creek which I’m trying to delay so it doesn’t have to end, I’m lame.

I’m wishing for a new mockumentary to come because I honestly love them a lot.

  • Music

I haven’t find anything new and to be honest with myself I think my music taste is starting to suck. I used to be this person who would spend hours looking for new good music and now I just kind of play the everyday songs I have. Worst thing is I love listening to music, they’re literally not many times of the day when I’m not listening to music and I’m just starting to get bored of listening to the same stuff.

I also miss 8tracks, I used to find great songs on that app but because now it’s only available on the United States I can’t. You broke my heart, 8tracks, I loved you.

If you feel like it, recommend me music or songs you’re into at the moment.

  • Books

I’m not reading anything at the moment but I have Uprooted in my table and I see it every day laying there tempting me to start reading so I might finally give in.

“Our Dragon doesn’t eat the girls he takes, no matter what stories they tell outside our valley. We hear them sometimes, from travelers passing through. They talk as though we were doing human sacrifice, and he were a real dragon. Of course that’s not true: he may be a wizard and immortal, but he’s still a man, and our fathers would band together and kill him if he wanted to eat one of us every ten years. He protects us against the Wood, and we’re grateful, but not that grateful.”

Agnieszka loves her valley home, her quiet village, the forests and the bright shining river. But the corrupted Wood stands on the border, full of malevolent power, and its shadow lies over her life.

Her people rely on the cold, driven wizard known only as the Dragon to keep its powers at bay. But he demands a terrible price for his help: one young woman handed over to serve him for ten years, a fate almost as terrible as falling to the Wood.

Sounds really cool, I was so excited when I found it on the book store. My cover is not as pretty as this one though.

  • Movie

From the moment I saw the first picture of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone dancing I was rooting for this movie. First of all because I love Emma Stone and I love Crazy, Stupid, Love so I loved them together with Ryan Gosling and they were kinda cool in Gangster Squad. But this movie? I don’t know if you have checked the trailer but it makes me so anxious and excited to see it.

The story is about “A jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles.” accordin to IMDB. I’ll leave you the trailer.

Plus Emma singing? I’m so up for this.

  • Clothes & Accesories

I’m all over this skirt I bought in H&M on my summer trip.

And that’s it, that’s all I have for the moment 🙂

See ya!

PS: I have ambiented my blog into a more spooky theme, I love Halloween.

I’m back!

I just arrived from Miami and I’m back home, freezing myself to death. I wanted to keep writing after my last post while being on my trip but my sister found out about my blog and I had to stop.

What’s wrong with her founding out? Well, the thing is my blog is sort of my secret. Yeah, I know I’m really bad at keeping secrets, I always wrote in front of my family but they never seemed to notice and when they saw me they would ask me if I was doing homework or some paper so I said yes, plus they don’t know english but my sister does, she saw me writing about the cat and started wandering so I told her. No big deal though, she didn’t say anything and she dropped the subject.

My trip was amazing and definitely something I needed to do to come back home with a little more energy. Highlight was definitely Disney and Universal (which I will talk about it later) because after that we took it easy in Miami. We did a lot of shopping since the clothes in USA is a lot more cheaper. My older cat dying was obviously a downer but I’m better now.

Anyway, I’m back and ready to keep up with this blog!

See ya (like really really soon)

The Character Book Tag

Photo May 27, 4 57 38 PM.png

Chloe from (Over) Analysing Literature left this tag open and I thought it looked like fun so I’m gonna do it and hope I don’t end up rambling about the characters because I feel like a proud mom when I talk about them. Alright let’s do it!

In fair warning I haven’t been reading lately so my answers might have no sense or talk about old books I read.

1. Who is the most tough and awesome character?

Hmm… this is hard. I’m between Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen. Funny thing is these two protagonist are the ones which I had most trouble liking at first place but have to admit they’re awesome and tough.

Harry lost his family when he was a baby and had to go through all those years of abuse by the Dursleys. Then he got to hear how great his parents were and how they had been murdered by a dark wizard who seemed to be after him. When he founds Sirius, his godfather, he feels like he might have a  chance of having a family and then Sirius dies.

Harry went through a lot, I mean, he came back from the dead! And he did all this being just a kid. He’s pretty much awesome because he’s a great wizard even though he seemed to have no idea what he’s doing most of the time, he goes with whatever idea comes first and it always works. I don’t think I need more excuse,  he defeated Lord Voldemort when he was just a baby!

Katniss was used as a political symbol being just 17 years old, she started a revolution that change millions of lives… AND SHE WAS JUST 17! At 17 I was failing almost every subject of high school. Plus she did all that for her sister and in the end her sister dies…

2. Which character do you most dislike?

This is also hard… I have a feeling every question is going to be hard for me. I didn’t finish this series but Sebastian from The Mortal Instruments was a piece of sh*t.

3. If you could date a fictional character, whom would it be?

RICHARD GANSEY III… he, he. Or Blue Sargent, she’s the best. When I was young I had a major crush on Ponyboy from The Outsiders… or Mr. Knightley from Emma… I could go on.

4. If you could change a character in any way what would it be?

I don’t know, I guess that while reading I have a lot of comments towards the characters and their personalities but after I finished the books I just see the bigger picture rather than that aspect of their personality.

5.What character made all the wrong choices which didn’t add anything to the story?

Noah from I’ll Give You the Sun… I do get he was really young and had a lot on his shoulder so I don’t really blame him but he did make some bad decisions that could have been avoided.

I could also mention Macbeth here but his wrong choices added a lot to the story.

6. Which Character do you love to hate?

I guess I could go with Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Honorable mentions: Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter, Joseph Kavinsky from The Dream Thieves, Don John from Much Ado About Nothing, Nick Bottom from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (I don’t know I just can’t get to like that character)…

7. Favorite sidekick character with the most heart.

Noah from The Raven Boys 🙂

I want to stop mentioning Harry Potter and that’s why I’m not saying Ron or Hermione.

8. What is your favorite fictional romantic relationship?

*Sweats because she wants to keep mentioning HP characters* Gansey and Blue from The Raven Boys, they’re so different yet you get the feeling they go well together. They know they’re not going to find what they’re looking for in each other but it doesn’t mean they can’t find it hand in hand.

Also: Scarlet and Wolf from The Lunar Chronicles, they’re so cute!!! Ronan and Adam from The Raven Cycle too.Chloe mentioned Gilbert and Anne from Anne of Green Gables and I absolutely agree. Beatrice and Benedick and yeah alright I’m sorry I have to… I love Ron and Hermione and Ginny and Harry.

9. Who do you think is the strongest character?

They’re a lot of characters that would enter in this area. I mean all the protagonists are usually really strong characters. I could mention Oliver Twist because he was just a kid and he went trough a lot but I read the book a long time ago (like 8 years ago) and I don’t remember that much of it.

10. Best protagonist?

I feel like Blue Sargent is the proper answer here. Usually it takes me a while to like the protagonist but I loved her from the first chapter (My precious feminist baby!). Also Lou Clark from Me Before You was a character I undoubtedly liked. Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower… It’s really difficult choosing one.

11. Whom do you tag?

Everyone! If you want to do it, do it. If you don’t, don’t. Your choice!

Feminism where I live

Photo May 22, 12 08 55 AM

Huge rant ahead!

Being a person who constantly checks US news and movements I gotta say I feel sorry for feminism in my country. Or maybe is just the people I surround myself with. There are a couple of things to have in consideration with the rant I’m about to do

First, I have nice friends. At least I like to think that they’re nice people. But sometimes they say things that I. Can. Not. Tolerate. And usually I’m a really patient person.

Secondly when I talk about feminism I usually include a lot of things. Primarily Equality between men and women, the end of stereotyping both and how they are “supposed” to behave or what are they supposed to wear because of their gender. Also, woman of colour, transgender women, support between women, the end of slut shaming, sexuality, end of body shaming between others. These are all the things that come to my mind when I think of the word “Feminism”

People here seem to be so afraid of this word. It’s a really funny thing because they say they’re not feminist and when you proceed to ask them “So you believe your father, your uncle or grandpa are better, deserve more and are more worthy than your mother, aunt or grandma?” this is a basic question that does not cover feminism entirely but it’s easy for people who have no idea about being a feminist. I also learned that if you include people familiar to the person you’re asking they usually answer that they do believe their parents should be equal or maybe they answer they’re different. But because they’re different it doesn’t mean one is less than the other right?

I think people are afraid of the word because it’s like choosing a political view. I mean I know people who believe in equality but won’t say they’re feminists because they don’t identify as one, which leaves me a bit confused. Others (usually guys) say that feminism is for women so they are not feminist because they’re not girls.

So it’s not also they’re afraid of the word but they are not very conscious of what it mean. This can bring a lot of misunderstanding. Because they don’t know what it means they assume that because feminist has “fem” in it means something that probably will only make it better just for girls. They’re so wrong.

And honestly I’m so tired of people saying “Don’t be a girl”, “Look what she’s wearing”, “she’s a slut” “can she love herself more?” WHAT THE HELL! I once heard the last one being said by one of my closest friends after dinner when we were on our phones. She was checking the instagram of a girl from high school. She had a lot of photos of herself posing and stuff and THAT’S OK! That time was the first time I stood up at a comment and said “It’s totally ok to love yourself, let her be” and she answered me “Ok but not that much” Seriously?!

I know everyone is a bit problematic sometimes but when it comes to this subject I just can’t tolerate them, it’s not ok. If, for example, that girl from high school wants to upload a picture in underwear or even naked it’s freaking ok! Because it’s her life and just because you’re not comfortable doing that doesn’t mean its wrong. It means she is, she loves herself and might be comfortable with her sexuality and that’s perfect! We should be complimenting her for that not degrading her!

If she wants to send pictures of herself to millions of guys it’s her fucking decision and not your place to comment if she’s a slut or not. If she feels comfortable doing it it’s fine. She’s an adult and she knows what she’s doing.

It’s okay to be comfortable with yourself, its okay to be a girl and go out with a lot of people as long as you don’t hurt them, it’s okay to have confidence and feel pretty and nice. What is not okay is girls criticizing other girls, putting them down, calling the sluts or whores.

Ok… I just wanted to take that out of my chest.

See ya 🙂

This or That Book Tag

Photo May 10, 11 26 57 AM

So I just stole a tag from (Over) Analysing Literature because… why not. I haven’t been here for like a week and I want to do something! Make sure to check her blog because it has really helpful and interesting posts and it’s pretty cool. Also I love when she tags everyone because I get to do these. Let’s start:

The Rules

  • Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  • Choose one of the options.
  • Tag 10 other people to do this tag to spread the love!

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed?

I always tend to read on the bed because is the only comfortable place I have in my room. If I go to the couch in the living room I would probably get distracted, family members will start talking to me or my cats will get in the way.

2. Male main character or female main character?

I don’t have a preference but I do think I have read more books with female main characters. Whichever sex they are I always tend to dislike main characters a little.

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

Sweet snacks! Usually candy, I like eating candy while reading for some weird reason.

4. Trilogies or quartets?

I think, for me, depends of the kind of book and the course of the story. I tend to be a lazy reader (meaning I procrastinate reading… as I procrastinate everything really) so if it’s a trilogy, better. But on the other hand if I’m really into the story and the characters then I don’t care how many books.

5. First-person point of view or third-person point of view?

This is interesting because I really don’t care, I mean I always read the book anyways and I don’t think “oh I would have loved to read it in first-person point of view” but when it comes to writing I always do it on first-person.

But if I have to choose I would have to take into consideration the author because I would have to love the way they write the main character’s thoughts… this is a horrible example but besides the issues I have with 50 shades of grey, I tried to read it because everyone said it was so good and so easy to read. I had to check in the library to see if downloaded the right PDF (because I was not going to spend money in that book) because the writing (first-person point of view) was… not good and I’m trying to be gentle.

That had nothing to do with nothing… anyway…

6. Reading at night or in the morning?

The night! I do everything in the night… like batman…

7. Libraries or bookstores?

We don’t have libraries here so bookstores. I mean yes we have the national library but it only has books you need for university or historical books.

8. Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

I like a good book that makes you suffer but it depends, the book has to be really good. I also like when books make you do both, laugh and cry.

9. Black book covers or white book covers?

Black book covers.

10. Character-driven or plot-driven stories?

I would have to say character-driven but if the plot is good the I enjoy plot-driven stories too.

So that’s that!

Because technically I was not tagged I’m going to do the same (Over) Analysing Literature did and tag everyone. So everyone who liked the tag and wants to do it is invited.
