The Man From U.N.C.L.E (2015) provided such a great costume design by Joanna Johnston (Love Actually, Forrest Gump, and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.) I loved the fashion in this movie so much I decided to talk about it over a collection I created in Polyvore.
30’s, 40’s, 50’s, and partially 60’s were really problematic years when discussing social rights. Racism, sexism and discrimination were alive and pumping. But if there’s something I would save from those years (besides some great movies) is the fashion. I have always been a fan of the classic vintage style.
The famous movie that recreates the famous TV Show of the same name is settled in the 1960’s. Joanna Johnston talked about the many inspirations she took from Vogue issues from 1966 and 1968 as well as specifics such as Victoria Vinciguerra’s style referenced by Marisa Berenson and Veruschka.
While Illya Kuryakin’s famous turtlenecks also appeared in the movie being used by Armie Hammer (I love him so much!) the hat, for example, was inspired by Jean-Paul Belmondo’s hat in À bout de souffle (Breathless).
The movie displays a variety of colors commonly used in the 60’s even though a lot of what Johnston used to dress Elizabeth Debicki (Victoria) and Alicia Vikander (Gaby) are pieces of clothes you can find nowadays in your local extra expensive brand shop. Gaby’s earrings, for example, are Marni and her sunglasses, House of Holland.
Both women style is also very different. While Gaby, a communist young mechanic from East Europe dresses in these very clear, fresh, young colors with a young style. Victoria’s wardrobe is almost exclusively black and white throughout the film.

A while ago after watching the movie I felt terribly inspired and decided to do a collection based on the movie. I’ll leave you with it!
Hope we read each other soon!
This is not going to be as long as last month which is funny since I had a lot of time in July to do more sets than in June when I was full of exams.
“Meet me there”
“Great and wide”
Hello WordPress! Long time no read. Right now I’m standing in the land of the free (I’ve been listening to Hamilton a lot lately) because luckily and at the same time maybe not, I’m on vacations. Luckily because I have more time to write and maybe not because I’m on a trip and it might get complicated to get around a computer and write while going to the beach or other places. However I have free time now so I decided yo upload my polyvore sets from June. Hope you guys like them, they’re a lot!
“The travel club”
This one was inspired in America Chavez from the Young Avengers. A. K. A. one of my favorite marvel characters
This one was based on Harry Potter, a sort of Harry Potter gender swap.
“Go your way”
“I was not magnificent”
“Know me well”
“Mystic nature walk”
“Close to the river”
“Nobody asked me”
“The study of stars”
“Night fairygirl” Continue reading “Sets from June”
I got glasses! New glasses actually because I already had ones but I needed new ones and this times the doctor said I will have to use them permanently to correct some things (about eyes, you know)
Oh my god, are you going to blog about this? Hum… yeah.
I only wanted to show you my glasses really. Look at them, When I put them on I feel like an exotic aunt who’s 50 years old, single, lives with 5 cats and 3 dogs, dresses like a witch and talks about things that nobody understands, oh and visits on holidays to eat your food. Yep, that’s definitely going to be me in 30 years. I love this future.
My mom is always telling me she wants grandkids and I’m always joking around saying that I’m going to either become a nun (I don’t even consider myself catholic, I don’t believe) or stay single forever and become this old and exotic lady.
Yeah, I like to piss of my family about my future, because everyone has such traditional expectations. For example, I have a very tight relationship with my grandparents, not like a normal person, they almost raised me, they paid for my education and college and we (with my sister) go to sleep to their house every weekend and every time we go on vacation we don’t go with my mom we go with them (Sometimes my mom comes with us) Normally their opinion is really important to me though I always discard it because they’re so conservative we always end up arguing.
They told me I was going to leave my house once I married, not alone. And I almost dropped the glass I was holding because THEY WISH. I mean they’re talking to the girl who wanted to get the hell out of her house as soon as she turned 18. Then there’s my mom. She has such an image on family and happiness and she think they go in hand and they do, family is great but I don’t want that and I don’t have to start a family to be happy.
Oh my god, do you see what I’m doing? I wanted to talk about my glasses not my family’s traditional and conservative thoughts that they want to push me into.
Anyway here’s my daily rambling.
